Portland is art, let art be Portland.
I love that climb up Salzman, with all its unexpected human embellishments. I think it’s a beautiful example of creativity applied opportunistically. Seriously , I’m so glad someone took the time to prepare such an experience for strangers like myself , and every time I pass that way I feel grateful to be included.

Thank you
Sometimes the only thing keeping me going riding up Saltzman on my bike (I am trying to get faster at climbing) is the ART. It is intriguing and joyful; it keeps my feet moving and my spirits lifted. Society needs art of all sorts. Not just art of well known superstars, but art from the minds of the everyday people who possess creative skills that are extraordinary. This art is exceptional and is not only important, but also what makes Portland, Oregon a special place to live.
I've ridden my bike several times past these amazing, whimsical creations. One day, Ken found me looking at one of his creations, and gave me a tour. His creations are a delight to behold!
Ken’s artwork on the edge of forest park is whimsical, absolutely unique, and refreshingly original. Please allow him to continue, for the sake of all that makes Portland a welcoming home for artists and creators.
Ken’s work is a brilliant addition to the city and brings a smile to my face
I just enjoyed a whimsical bike ride through Ken’s alternate poetic universe on my way to Forest Park this morning. What a delightful journey and just what’s needed in these dark times. Thanks Ken!

Ken's art brings an element of surprise and discovery to any passerby or those fully immersed in the experience. We all need a jolt to get us out of our heads and into the circus, if only for a moment. It truly is a treasure and harkens back to a Portland that's passed and missed.

Keep Portland weird. This installation brings so much joy to the community and we need to continue to support all of our local artists.
Ken's work is for the community, he intentionally places it in areas where the public can enjoy it. He uplifts the neighborhood with his artwork, and is doing his part to keep Portland weird.
His vision with Fellini's accidental circus in 9 Acts was to raise money for nonprofits like Rose Haven who offer direct service to folks in need.

I only ride through saltzman 5 or so times a year but every time there’s something new to look at!
Ken's work adds a touch of whimsy and extra detachment from the drudgery of every day life. I enjoy and introduce others to the experience while cycling in Forest Park
I visit NW Saltzman often and every time the sculptures bring me joy. Sometimes I stop and photograph. Other times I just smile as I ride by.
Hi everyone have you seen the amazing Fellini's Circus? Wowza It is great! I can't hardly believe that this artist is producing work like this and it makes my day brighter. We brought our friends from Amsterdam to see it and they loved it.

As a regular cyclist traveler on Saltzman, the arts display is consistently one of the highlights of my ride. I love the creativity and humor in these displays and am grateful that Ken shares this work with the community.
These installations bring me as much joy as Forest Park.
Heading in, they are a wonderful welcome. If I’m descending to leave, they keep me smiling as I ride along the death zone Hwy.

THIS is about expressing oneself with whimsy that can be shared with the community, that brings people together. I talked with Ken for quite a while, about time and physics and art. I found that he knew one of my good neighbors who, although we live 1/2 hour from Ken, had also made his way into Ken's world to share creativity and fun. I love how art brings people together across time and space, from different ideological perspectives. It unites us as humans. I'm sad that the United States gives a tiny fraction of the money to public art that is given in all other European and north American countries; thank God for people like Ken who are willing and able to step up and provide art and lighthearted fun when we need it most.

We, the royal we,
; hikers, bikers, et al, really enjoy your creative displays on lower NW Saltzman Rd. It's whimsical, thought provoking and wonderful art. And it's in the perfect venue, the transition from hideous industrial land up into Portland's Emerald Crown, Forest Park.
Our family loves the roadside art. We frequently ride our bikes there and it is such a joy.
Love riding up Saltzman and enjoying your artwork, so creative. Portland needs more art and your contribution is amazing. Thanks so much!

Read MoreI came across Ken’s work while I was researching routes for a trail run and was pleasantly surprised to find his amazing art near a trailhead in Forrest park. This came at a particularly crucial time, as my partner and I are new to Portland and had a challenging introduction with some home damages from the ice storm in January 2023. We were living in a hotel and struggling to find a sense of home and our community. While we came to run a trail, we found peace and inspiration in Ken’s art. My partner is an artist and talking with Ken and experiencing his art was like a balm for our souls. Despite the hardships that we experienced with coming to Portland, this whimsical expression of art contributed to our belief that Portland is our home. While we were there experiencing the amazing treasures, we noticed the planned addition of Fellini’s Circus. We are very excited about this expansion and can’t wait to see what Ken creates next. His work is a rewarding find for those that journey out to the trails and we can’t recommend it enough, especially for anyone looking for inspiration and delight for the senses. It is unclear if Ken is aware of the influence that his art has the community, but we want to provide a testimony on the impact that his art has had on our lives.
I love the whimsy these add to Salzman, especially when I’m biking up that steep hill on a cold day. The art is cool and creative and so very portland — it makes me a proud to live in such a cool place. This aDT adds a ton of character and I would be so upset if it stays.
Bringing some fun, light hearted art is what this city and community is all about. I love taking friends and family here for some unexpected views. It means a lot to the community!
As a society we are in desperate need of more art in general, and thoughtful responses to our contemporary milieu are critical. Ken’s destination in his part of the woods is one of those rare curios critiques that curious folks seek to sustain their sanity and humor. Let him go off.
